Bio from Dan, January 31, 2001:
I have not spoken to anyone from our graduating class since around 1976
when I ran into (I think) Joanne Spohn at a carnival in Endicott, and so
stumbling across this website has generated many thoughts and feelings...I
don't look in the rear view mirror much. However, for those who may be
interested, here's how it went with me...
...After graduation I went to school to be an engineer. Seven colleges
(or was it eight) and many miles later, I graduated from San Diego (that's
in California) State University with a degree in Religious Studies in
1975. That degree, naturally, earned me a job with the Dept of Defense
(go figure!) who has paid the bills ever since. Your tax dollars have
supported me in Texas (twice), Pennsylvania, Kentucky, the Pentagon
(that's in Washington D.C.), and currently in Georgia...and California (if
you count unemployment). I suppose I will either retire in a few years to
the woods in Arkansas, or drop dead at my desk from stress.
I have great-grand children (by marriage) that call me
peepaw, and a 21 year old daughter due to get married in April. I rounded
up a couple of pictures to attach...of me at work (both jobs), and of the
two folks who keep me grounded, my wife Macoline and daughter, Danielle.
We have carved ourselves a little place of privacy here in the country,
and I am loath to leave it in my free time.
I have many interests, but I gues landscaping is foremost now as my
gestalt (sorry about that, but I can't think of a better word) is
reflected best in things that grow and breathe.
Memories: Well, I guess I felt I was always between cliques, but wanted to
be friendly with all. I never fit in with the "In Crowd" (whatever that
is... jocks and prom queens and stuff...), maybe because I was a country
boy; I never fit in with that other "more dangerous element" (I just
remember some kind of blue fraternity jacket), and I guess I wasn't smart
enough or disciplined enough to fit in with the "scholastically oriented"
group. Consequently, I don't remember that as a particularly happy time
for me.
Two people stand out as friends who stood by me: Eric Smith and
Conrad Weiss. I have lost touch with both. I wish them well. I wish you
all well...we are shaped by our environment and our choices, and there are
endless paths available. Sometimes how life goes with us depends on
whether we were lucky enough not to get caught doing what we shouldn't
have been doing, or hurt by others doing what they shouldn't have been
doing. Back to memories (sorry): hanging out at football home games on
Friday nights, hitch-hiking home after school, getting my ear frost bitten
while walking Janet Vullemier home (Junior HS, before she dumped me),
Con(rad) Weiss knocking himself out cold at my house one night, Corky
Fuller getting pulled over by my brother-in-law for smiling suspiciously,
...and my bus driver. ...and oh yes, my advanced placement English teacher
(whose name I have forgotten) who passed me in spite of my failing grade
because "he thought I should graduate". My thanks

I
was SO excited to see Danny Fisher on the web page!!!!!!!! He was, by far, one
of the nicest human beings in our class. I think we were in classes
together
when we were in Elementary school....he, I think, was Ross Corners
kid, and I, a Clayton Ave. kid.....however, as the population in
Vestal grew, our boundariy lines changed. I've thought about him MANY times over
the
past
3 decades, and have tried to find him....and look, he found us!!!!! See, I
told you that God is good!!!!! He looks wonderful.....he hasn't
aged...just matured with grace. His
wife & daughter are also beautiful. Danielle has her
Dad's
beautiful brown eyes. Danny was just the nicest person....I don't think
he ever had any faults. He was consistantly good natured...always
had a ready smile, a listening ear and an understanding heart. I'll be writing
to him
today.....wonder
if he lives anywhere near Bob & Mary Kaley.....they are in
Lawrenceville, Ga.Ya know, Danny was SO nice, I'll be willing to
bet he's a Republican AND a Red Sox fan!!!!!!!!
